‘I like the objects I work with every day to have a history. The table in my studio was the dining table from my childhood in Ravenna, these backgrounds here [pointing to some rolls high up on a shelf] I bought in the studio of an Indian photographer, and they were hand painted. All of the chairs and stools that I use were found on the street. I like to think that objects once used in the kitchen of an old lady can then end up on a Vogue cover or a Dior advertisement.
