I woke up exhausted today (and multiple times throughout the night - as per usual😍)... I thought saying “yes” to my daughters request for a date would energize me. It didn’t. Was fun... warmed my heart, but I’m still beat. I’ve said no to all the easy paths offered this year, which means creating, writing, pitching, strategizing, training for multiple projects. Plus five kids and an amazing wife. And I love it. I’m insanely lucky, and you can understand why I want to be all things to all people... But I’m coming to grips with the reality that you can’t. Nobody can. So I’m going to try to give myself permission to just show up. To offer the best of what I’m able to muster to whoever is in front of me, and trust that it will be enough. And that the rest of the world will keep spinning without my worrying about it. #MondayMusings

I think that presence as a parent is the most important thing we can give our children anyway. They feel that love from us, that desire to be a part of their interests, and that gives them security, fosters independence, and makes them better humans. So I think you're doing more than just the best YOU can, you're doing the best humanly possible! Seriously: I always was a fan of yours (Dawson's Creek, yes, but even through your lesser known projects like The Rules of Attraction), but I follow you bc of the parent and human being that you are. It's so refreshing and inspiring. You're amazing.

One thing is for sure ' The only thing you can't buy /makeup/or take back is Time.. Just make sure the time you spend is for the rite Reason and the rite People just like te ones your with Because none of really know how much we have left #Time @vanderjames

Have you read/ listened to the book “Essentialism” @vanderjames ? Sounds like you are in the right headspace for it. Great tips and validation for only doing the essential things in your life and saying no to the other 90%.
