No flowers were harmed in the making of this photo. Instead of shaming people for taking photos with nature, let’s have an open discussion about how to preserve the natural beauty of our world while simultaneously allowing people to enjoy its splendor. I don’t know what the right path or solution is. I do my best to be respectful and I feel that those of you who have followed me for any amount of time know how deeply I love our natural world and that I do my best to be as respectful as I can be. What are your thoughts on this superbloom issue? How much responsibility does an “influencer” bare when it comes to the actions of their “followers”? Should I never again take flower pics on a freeway on-ramp because it may inspire others to do the same? Where do we draw the line?

In my opinion, I do agree that more people should try to stay in trails to reduce the amount of impact being made in the environment. I agree that some influencers shouldn’t be recklessly sitting or trampling on loads of flowers for a shot. What I don’t agree with personally is the argument of “I don’t care if your pic is photoshopped or not, what message are you sending to people, that it’s okay to trample on flowers?”
...so they assume that your followers are just stupid monkey-see-monkey-do robots? If a pic remotely has flowers, you’re a bad influence?? 🙄 It boils down to the individual responsibility and usage of common sense, which I feel with the crowd mentality happening these days, makes it seem like your audience is more than willing to trample on flowers. As long as people take it upon themselves to minimize impact and use common sense, I don’t see why you can’t make ANY posts with flowers. You do you and take up responsibility for your OWN actions, not for the bad apples out there. Peace! 🙏🏼

Hi Liz, I see you’re standing on a trail here and have disclaimed that you did not trod on any flowers which is awesome! But many of your other posts are shown at a beautiful angle that unfortunately don’t make it clear that you kept to the trails and didn’t harm any of the natural habitat. And to me it’s sending a message to ~200k people that it’s not only ok, but cool to disregard leave no trace principles. I know on a micro level it may seem ok, what’s the harm in one footprint here? But on a macro level the harm of 200000 footprints are detrimental and ruin public places forever. Which then leaves no beauty for any of us to enjoy. Hope this comment is perceived respectful, as this is my intention when putting in my two cents.

I'm assuming you're referring to my page, or one like it. I think where we draw the line is clear. The line should be drawn at the rules and regulations for any area, and beyond that, the moral obligation that influencers, like yourself, have to to promote positive behavior rather than just promoting themselves or their sponsors.
