As you probably know from my IG feed I care deeply about my @specialolympics family. In the last decade of being involved with this organization I have heard firsthand the stories from our athletes and their families on how Special Olympics has changed their lives. This #transformation picture is of Malachie - a young autistic boy found at a refugee camp in Tanzania by my colleague @nkastberg. The first picture was taken two years ago when his mother didn’t know how to take care of him and chained him to a pole from sunrise to sunset. With the help of @specialolympics and @laventanadeloscielos he began to play sports and be more included into society. The 2nd and 3rd picture are from this week’s @worldgamesad. As you can see, Malachie is having a great time😁. It brings tears to my eyes watching him play with his friends and walk in the Opening Ceremonies representing Tanzania. This is just one example of the power of #inclusionrevolution and why the world needs to be more tolerant and accepting of ALL people despite differences of abilities, culture, race, sex, gender....

😫💕 this makes my heart SO happy. As a little girl you were my role model and I aspired to be just like you. I’m crying happy tears because not only were you a strong, female role model for me as a kid, but you always care about others. I get to work with kids like Malachie every day and I feel so, so lucky that I get to do what I love by helping kids communicate. Thank you so much for sharing amazing stories like Malachie’s, and for being a true hero with your presence at the games!
