Photo by @stephen_matera | Bear grass at sunset in Mt. Rainier National Park. Bear grass, or Xerophyllum tenax is a North American species of plants that grows in the subalpine meadows of the mountains of western North American from British Columbia down to the Sierras in California and throughout the Rocky Mountains. It only blooms once every 5-7 years so it's lucky if you see a large bloom. Follow me @stephen_matera for more images like this from Washington and around the world. #wildflowers #summer #sunset
