Today, I would like to take a minute to honor and support women around the world who are caught up in our unsustainable, inhuman and profit driven system. I want to send them love and respect, and promise them we will stand up for them. Fast fashion is a feminist issue. We can’t rise up and fight for women’s rights and women’s empowerment in the west by wearing unethical cheap clothes made by women who are suffering from it in the east. These women fight for their lives everyday. They live in poverty. They do not receive the minimal wage for their work. They work in dangerous conditions. They are being used by a system, so we, on the other side of the planet, can feel better and empowered while walking out of our houses, wearing the latest trendy fast fashion piece. Our world is an interconnected ecosystem on every level. And our daily choices impact the lives of others in ways we can not imagine. So to all the women in Bangladesh, China, Vietnam, India... working hard to survive, educate and feed their kids, let’s call out the fast fashion industry and stop buying their products until they start treating these workers like human beings. It takes all of us to change. And it starts now. May this day be their day. Let’s rise and support each other with love, care, strength and actions! @hm @zara @mango @topshop @forever21 ... you know what to to. Do it. Now. If you too want to honor these women, please post and ask the fashion industry to take its responsibility. And stop buying their bullshit. You do not need another shirt to feel and look great. You are enough and wonderful. You are loved and powerful. With a nice pair of shoes or an old one. Your clothes don’t define you. Your actions do. Be yourselves.
