I had no clue until the day I left on this trip that every day I’d be opening up a new letter from Eisele. She and Chris sat together and worked on these before I left Nashville and it’s one of the most priceless gifts I’ve ever received. When Chris and I were dating we were apart for 11 days while Lady A did a tour in Australia. He wrote me a letter for every day we weren’t together. To have this tradition repeated moves me to tears. Saying goodbye for several days is never easy. It’s not the part of this life and career that I love. It’s hard. It’s sacrifice. I struggle with the lie that it makes me a bad wife and mother. It’s A LOT. A lot on my husband and caregivers. A lot on my Mama’s heart. It’s not by accident that Eisele’s drawings have included words that her daddy helped her spell. Day 1 was an “I LUV YOU MOM.” Day 2 was the word Faithfulness(with her other drawings filling up the rest of the page). Day 3 was more drawings and the word Peace. Seeing those two words spelled out in her 5 yr old handwriting hit me hard. To prayerfully seek peace in the fear and sadness of being away. To choose faithfulness to God and this calling He has given me. What a lesson and a challenge. Faithfulness and peace are fruits of His Spirit that are the sustenance I need to conquer this 9 day mountain of being away from them. I can’t wait to see what my Day 4 letter says. I know it’ll be just what I need. ??
