A female Costa’s Hummingbird approaches an aloe flower – an example from my hummingbird series I’m sharing @Tim Laman, shot in California’s Coachella Valley at the Sunnylands Center and Gardens. Hummingbirds have such an amazing ability to hold their heads and bills precisely steady while their wings beat furiously, that even a shutter speed where the wings are blurred (like 1/240 sec used here), there are frames where the eye is totally sharp such as this shot.
