"When Hedi Slimane was given full control of Celine about a year ago, some mumbled and ground their teeth. After his first womenswear show - a decadent, powerful chronicle of Parisian youth - many didn’t understand his viewpoint and most tried to rebuke him, which resulted in a nonsensical pandemonium fuelled by social media. But creating a bit of turmoil has always been part of Slimane’s modus operandi. Slimane understands that in order to be relevant, one must polarise and one needs to centre the discussion around themselves.
