How adorable is my handsome fiancé @chardefrancesco ? He has temporarily left his braids behind in favor of this curly mop top. When I first saw his new ‘do I was so jealous. I was reminded of when I was 13 (1976) and I saw Barbra Streisand in A Star is Born. All I wanted back then was a perm. When I was denied that by my mother and told by my awful stepfather (with a look of utter disgust on his face), that it was “gay, and, over his dead body”!
So what did I do? Well, I took my saved allowance and went out to the drugstore to buy a home perm kit and figured I would do it myself in the bathroom at home. Before getting around to my dream coiffure I heard home perm horror stories (from whom, I have no idea), so I decided just to try and curl my hair in tight ringlets with spongy curlers. I was able to roll up my very long hair only in the front of my head. I gave up on that dream, which in retrospect, probably was all for the best. #truestory #straighthairdontcare #longhairdontcare #babstillinspiresme
