Farmer Jack Slack-Smith, 65, listens to a #weather report in his living room on Epping Farm near Pilliga in New South Wales in November. The drought in #Australia has reduced its sheep stock from 7,000 to approximately 3,600, and cattle from 260 breeders to 22. "Well, it's definitely the worst drought in my lifetime and I think in my father's lifetime, or certainly in his working lifetime, anyhow," says Slack-Smith. "It stopped raining in July 2012, and from that time on we've had little pockets of relief, with the exception of that four-month period in '16, and we just thought things were going to turn around and go well... it snaps right back in, more severe than ever. The biggest problem with the #drought, too, is, it doesn't rain money. It's going to take a long time to build back up."
