This was about a year ago at this point, and there is a lot to be said about what is going on in this photo. I went to Korea with the intention of turning a big ol’ lemon into my sweet lemonade, but this trip was a lot harder than I imagined it would be. I was horribly depressed, putting on a smile for the camera and crying myself to sleep at night. I was reporting on an event that I wanted to be competing in. I cheered on my best friend from a screen when I wanted to be at the boards. That ice taunted me every day I walked into the arena because I knew I was good enough to be out there on it. I was BITTER. A year later though, I have come so far and now I can appreciate this situation for what it was. I was surrounded by incredible, patient people who were so kind to me. Resilience is created from experience, and my time at the Olympics gave me so many of the tools that I use today. It is all about perspective, you have to keep your chin up and push through the bad times so that you can get to a point where you look back and appreciate all the good that came from that bad. Thank you to my incredible team who convinced me to stay in Korea every day that I wanted to go home. Thanks to my partner in crime @louievito for being ridiculous and making me laugh on camera. Lastly the biggest thanks to @reedjamesk for being there for me every day and giving me a reason to smile. Also for the burgers you snuck out of the cafeteria for me. Olympics or not, I survived this experience and I came out better than ever 💁🏼‍♀️
