“Empire” actor Jussie Smollett was arrested Thursday and faces a felony charge on suspicion of filing a false report claiming he was the victim of a hate crime. Smollett said he was attacked by two men who yelled racist and homophobic slurs, and tied a rope around his neck. Chicago police now say Smollett staged the attack because he was “dissatisfied with his salary.” The actor denies playing a role, and his attorneys promised an “aggressive defense.” Police released Smollett’s booking photo, above, on Thursday.
