On March 3, 1981, I was elected mayor of Burlington, Vermont, by a ten-vote margin. Ten votes. Every vote in America matters and every person must have the chance to participate in our democracy. That is why we are fighting to restore a vibrant democracy where billionaires and special interests can’t buy elections.
