Topped with defensive towers and surrounded by a moat, this Belgian castle left its mark with acts of heroism during World War II. ⠀
⠀
Château de Haltinne, which dates to the 1630s, was most recently home to a decorated hero of the Belgian resistance during WWII. During the war, his family sheltered a Jewish couple from Antwerp, saving them from deportation by the occupying Germans.⠀
⠀
After the owner's death in 2015, the home passed on to his four children, who put the roughly 33,000-square-foot castle on the market with an asking price of €13.5 million, or about $15.3 million. The 600-acre estate located in the province of Namur includes a working farm and more than 170 acres of forest, as well as some 40 rooms inside the castle.⠀
