Sending love and healing vibes to all of our friends impacted by gun violence on this 1-year anniversary of Parkland. I had the honor of meeting these beautiful families during the making of #TheFlower and on my many visits to Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School. We talked about how many of the Parkland students and parents have since become activists with the goal of keeping our children and our world safe for everyone. Yesterday #HR8 passed out of committee, which is the first gun violence prevention bill to pass the House Judiciary Committee in decades! This is a bill that will update our background check laws to cover all gun sales and keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn't have them. Their efforts are moving things in the right direction!! Please take a moment to give some extra hugs to the ones you love today and if you haven’t already, please contact your representatives via @everytown to learn more about how you can stand in solidarity with all those impacted by gun violence by taking action to demand stricter gun laws. —We can be the healing.
