"When I started learning about important figures of the LGBTQ rights movement as a teen, I would mostly see praise for white queer folk and felt that the movement ignored black queer and trans people. When I heard about Marsha and what she did for trans and queer POC and everybody else of her time, I was grateful and felt inspired to do more to help myself and others live a better life. I think it is very important to pay mind to black LGBTQ people during Black history month, too." @khaileid, artist.

Marsha P. Johnson was a black trans woman, important queer activist and key figure in the Stonewall riots of 1969. She fought loudly and proudly for LGBTQ rights until her death in 1992.
