Squats in terms of foot placement depends upon your preference and what you are training for. Wide stance is used for power or strength. It cuts down on the distance needed to travel. But the more narrow the stance is the more engage the quads become and helps develop the leg more fully. Wide stance tends to under develop the inner thigh. So if you are training for aesthetics do both as wide grip also emphasizes different areas like the glutes.
