In order to help people the most you really have to understand them inside and out, to learn about all their hopes and dreams, to dig deep and empathize with their problems and struggles...basically to walk in their shoes. This is why I’ve spent the last few days in Thailand, where my charity @karmagawa has a new school, just talking with the locals and eating with so many amazing people thanks to solid recommendations from @the.hungry.tourist @puppup_foodlife and @migrationology and while this photo of me was taken in #bali it drives home my point nicely as I wanted to see what it felt like to be a rice farmer, even if only for a few hours (FYI it’s damn tough/back breaking work). Too many of us are too quick to rush to judgment with people, places and on subject matter galore (of which I am also guilty of) so this year I’m trying to be much more conscientious, patient and open-minded and I encourage you to do the same...the world is a far better place when we demonstrate greater empathy and invest in meaningful relationships too! #karmagawa
