The bathing suit I’m wearing is made form recycled fish nets and other discarded waste ♻️ I saw firsthand the waste discarded into the ocean when we picked some up on the island, having probably come from as far as Indonesia. I’m such an organizer and cleaner so I enjoyed helping pick things up that had washed up onto the beach. We collected plastic crates, sandals, single use plastics, water bottles, children’s toys, and just about anything you could imagine that floats - we even found a few fluorescent light bulbs. It’s estimated that 1/3 of the trash dumped into the ocean reaches the shores and the other 2/3 sinks and stays at the bottom of the ocean. About 1.4 billion pounds of trash is dumped into our oceans each year. The trash pollutes beaches, threatens marine life, and affects local tourism industries. I’m trying to be more of an environmentalist in my own life and really appreciate sustainable companies along with the new laws and regulations that are being passed throughout the world 🌎⁣
