Inspired by dear friend and colleague @amivitale and her recent overview of amazing women she has encountered around the globe, I’m posting a series of pictures that are some encounters I’ve had with truly #exceptionalpeople. Here, in Tanzania, ophthalmic nurse Sidney Katala attempts to overcome the scourge of trachoma, driving his four wheel to villages who ordinarily don’t have access to medical care. Here, at his office, he cares for a youngster whose older sibling tries to get the child to look in a certain direction. Sidney and I spend some time together, and I was humbled by his company.
