Its Thursday, day 1 of the @PGA TOUR #farmersinsuranceopen and we have a new podcast episode to celebrate!
This week our founder @mredds chats with fellow @athleteally ambassador and pro golfer Tadd Fujikawa (@タッド・フジカワ )about his experiences with his queer Asian identity, coming out and making history as the first openly gay male professional golfer, both of their hopes and work to fight for intersectional queer inclusivity in golf, growing up in Hawaii surrounded by API faces, and Maya saying “cool” way too many times.
As much as we’re excited for the PGA Tour 2019 season to kick off this weekend, we are still frustrated with the culture of golf - still in the dark ages, and still not nearly as inclusive and supportive of other genders, ethnicities, and sexual orientations as it could and should be. So while you’re watching Tiger or Rors at Torrey this weekend, hopefully listening to this podcast with Tadd, reading his story, and reading Maya’s story you’ll recognise the need to push for inclusivity and change the way in which we consider “who” can play golf, and “what” a golfer looks like.
