“Welcome Home, Jayme” signs were posted around Barron, Wisconsin last week after the discovery of Jayme Closs, a 13-year-old girl who police say was held captive for nearly 3 months by Jake T. Patterson, a 21-year-old, in Gordon, Wisconsin. Jake has gone from local anonymity in Gordon to national infamy, accused of not only kidnapping Jayme, but also killing her parents, James and Denise Closs. The awful crime has shattered Gordon’s sense of safety. “In a little town where everyone knows everyone’s business, how could we not know that’s who he was?” said Shawn Germann, a FedEx driver. Jake was arrested last week, after Jayme escaped from under a twin-size bed inside his home.
