Excited to share this new book on #TheyLive from @roughtradebooks and @officeofcraig. It’s a comprehensive visual exploration of the 1988 film, and features contributions from director John Carpenter, John Grant, Slavoj Zizek, Roger Luckhurst, myself, and many others. If you’ve been following my work from the early years, you’ll know that a lot of ideas for the Obey campaign were inspired by #TheyLive. I really liked the subversive elements of the movie, how people don’t realize they’re slaves to consumerism because everything is glossy on the surface. People are just sleepwalking through life, and #Obey is my way of splashing cold water on their faces. - Shepard
