There’s nothing easy about taking photos like this. We came across this deceased #humpbackwhale while working in Antarctica last year on a #climateChange and krill story for @ナショナルジオグラフィック @sealegacy. It’s unclear what the cause of this whales death was; what is clear however is that krill is being fished out of the ecosystem here at an alarming rate, THE food source for whales and nearly every mammal that lives in Antarctica. @paulnicklen and @andy_mann seen here in the zodiac filming and providing scale to the shear size of this animal.
