Last week I got the sad news that my friend Peanut the cat passed away in Kauai. He was such a good boy, always playful or sleeping on top of the fridge, and loved to be pet. Once he slept inside the cabin and as a reward he brought me a rat (for those who don’t know cats, that’s a way for them to show love). May you rest in peace big boy ?? I don’t personally own a friend-pet, but I’m blessed to meet many along my trips, and I find it so amazing how different they are, in terms of personalities and behavior, not only the cats and dogs, but birds (like tofu on pic 2), pigs, cows, marine life and so on. Just like us humans have different and complicate personalities, they do too. I always look back with gratitude for the experience of living in a farm in Hawaii, it taught me so much my life will never be the same. The connection I had with nature, planting and harvesting my own food, picking fresh fruits from the trees, seeing how powerful is the process, combining perfectly the pillars of growth: land, water, sun, wind and love. Which does not require any poison and grows naturally and organically. I saw for the first time how beautiful a pineapple plantation looked like and learned it takes 2 years from the seed to the first fruit to grow. Which gave me an enormous appreciation for it, and I told myself I will never let one rot and go to waste again. The connection with the whole was so powerful, the day I was about to leave, Poseidon the dog didn’t want to get out of the road. He was feeling I was about to leave. I had to go talk to him and give him a big hug, moving him out of the way so I could move on. Felt so much love in Kauai which I’ll forever be grateful for. #Mahalo for so much @risingsunorganicfarmkauai ! ???
