Something my grandpa said once REALLY stuck with me. I asked him “what are you doing today” (it was a very hot day) and he said (in Greek) “I’m going to cut the neighbours tree for them”. I said “it’s REALLY hot, why are you doing that??” and he lent forward and said “I do things for people, because when I die, I want them to remember me not for what I had, but for what I did for others. I want them to say “he was a nice person”. I sat back in my chair..papou smiled, he knew he had all my attention and ALL my respect.
