Runyon @teepublic Shirts 6 and 7 from Saturday and Sunday hikes with my dog Shecky (not pictured). First up is a Faber College Mongols tee from ANIMAL HOUSE. My portrayal of Silent Bob has always stolen liberally from Belushi’s Bluto. Watch @jayandsilentbob Strike Back: in the parking lot sequence right before the animal testing facility break-in, I’m clearly trying to sneak into Dean Wormer’s office. The second shirt is “Honor” by @karenhallionart from her She series, featuring my favorite @Disney heroine, MULAN. Eddie Murphy’s Mushu nearly steals the show, but it’s Mulan’s journey that gets me in the feels every time, culminating with her saving the Emperor and China and having her Father tell her “The greatest gift and honor is having *you* as a daughter.” Saw the flick with @jenschwalbach when we first started dating and a year later, we had our own daughter, @harleyquinnsmith. She hasn’t saved China (yet) but in becoming a Dad myself, I could relate to what Mulan’s Dad was talking about. The villain Shan Yu dubbed Mulan “the soldier from the mountain” - and wearing my Mulan shirt on Day 7 of Runyon hiking, that’s what I felt like: a Chinese girl in the mountains, with a lucky cricket in her pocket and a reverent love for her old man in her heart.
