Photo by @max.lowe // Looking out on the frozen glacial landscape of the Antarctic continent on this New Years Eve, and watching as icebergs calve into the sea before my eyes, I cant help but think about what we might do in the next year to come. As the world changes ever more rapidly around us and the polar regions reflect our shifting climate ever more vividly, will we stop for a moment, this year that is a moment and time and consider ourselves? Consider the fact that if we don’t make a change, perhaps this year will be one we look back on down the road with shaking heads, wishing we had acted more for the betterment of our delicate, wonderful and wild planet and in that ourselves. Seeing these places and sharing stories about them gives me hope for the year to come and what good we might continue to do for our planet. This New Years though let’s all celebrate, for the year past and the year ahead but also for the years and decades and centuries ahead as well for which we must and will do better.
