It’s the most wonderful time of the year ? Who’s up late wrapping those last few presents? ??‍♀️ I remember when the kids were little and this time often felt more stressful than wonderful. Everything felt cluttered and too much and somehow also not enough. What I’ve realized over the years is that whatever thing on my to do list I forgot to do, whatever toy I couldn’t find or couldn’t afford, pretty much everything I allowed to stress me out during this season, in the end, didn’t really matter anyway. Tonight we watched home movies from Christmas past, and I was thinking...we don’t have a single one of those toys our kids opened. The clothes have long been handed down, the bikes outgrown. However, the fun times we had, the talent shows, the games, the skits, Mamaw singing Christmas carols, the funny things said and favorite memories, those are the things that really mattered all along. We had a party yesterday for 13 kids ages 2-7 to give the mamas some time to wrap presents, finish shopping, or simply go take a nap. The party lasted 5 hours...that might have been a little much, ha! Let me tell you, absolutely none of it was perfect, we gave them a candy cane and dollar store stuffed Santa that most of them forgot and left at my house. We threw it together in one day, picked up a chickfila tray of nuggets, and served lemonade in to-go coffee cups (that actually worked really well, no spills!) It was total chaos, but we had a blast! I’m praying tonight especially for all of you mamas of littles that you can enjoy this special time of year, that there is peace in your home and and in your head, that you remember what it’s really all about, and don’t stress over anything that won’t matter in 10 years (probably most of it won’t even matter in 10 days!) Love on those kiddos, have a seat and let them sing and dance for you, join in the fun, and have a wonderful Christmas!
