Having 2 productions in the same season is rare for any artist. For one making his dual debut while still a 3rd-year student at @yaleschoolofdrama, it’s like commuting into Manhattan on a comet. Yet that’s the feat that playwright @jeremyoharris has achieved. “Slave Play,” the 29-year-old’s professional debut, opened Dec. 9 at @nytw79. In addition to “Slave Play,” his play “‘Daddy’” will debut Off Broadway in February, a coproduction of @thenewgroupnyc and @vineyardtheatre, starring @alancummingsnaps and an onstage swimming pool. Jeremy’s work combines contemporary art and pop music with critical theory. Our reporter, @nevymarie, says that, “Though wildly different in approach, ‘Slave Play’ and ‘Daddy’ each interrogate the legacies of white supremacy and the deep psychological turmoil inherent to black identity.
