Women like Ester use the tool of tree planting to fight climate change and lift their communities out of poverty. Ester was joined by a group of 30 women who did a traditional dance before heading to a stream bed to plant trees. The women travel from different communities so sharing traditional song and dance forms strong bonds before planting begins. Through female planting cooperatives like this, aid organization TIST has planted 4.2 million trees in four countries.
