The Seijaku ‘Cymatic’ dress is made from the worlds lightest Amaike-organza, woven from threads five times thinner than a human hair. To create the soft and sculptural texture, traditional Japanese 3D Shibori technique was used to shape the organza, to be then handstitched on black cotton. ～
These are the final weeks to see this dress at the @newarkmuseum, as part of the exhibition ‘Kimono Refashioned’, showcasing garments created by Japanese, European and American designers from the world-renowned collections of the Kyoto Costume Institute and the Newark Museum. Open until 6 January.
