LIFE legend Betty Grable was born 102 years ago today on December 18, 1916 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was an actress, dancer, singer and pin-up girl and at one point the highest paid woman in the mid 1940s. This image is an outtake from the June 7, 1943 feature: "BETTY GRABLE'S LEGS: They have now achieved stature of a major Hollywood landmark." According to LIFE, "Other actresses with handsome legs have also gone far, but Betty has made the leg her private trademark."
