Shooting THIS scene is why I stopped eating chicken. THIS scene took 4 hours to shoot.
FYI passing a chicken back and forth to the animal wrangler, scratches the hell out of your arms and hands, so instead, I held that chicken for most of that time. I had to cradle her breast bone from underneath. I felt her heart beat inside that chicken breast. She fell asleep in my arms. She made what sounded to me like chicken purring noises. Coincidentally, I had my cat Homey with me on location when we shot this and it suddenly dawned on me, “What is the difference between my precious cat and this sweet chicken? They were both living, loving beings”
