@eckhaus_latta’s first store in Manhattan has arrived. Tucked away in 75 East Broadway‘s "Chinatown Mall," as locals have dubbed it, the shop does the opposite of everything a retail whisperer would recommend. There is no sign, no window display–no mannequins even–and is on the second floor of the building. The shop, says codesigner Mike Eckhaus, is “something that’s serene and simple, with the guts of the building above you to remind you this is actually where you are.” Eckhaus lives nearby and knows that the location, and floor, of a hyper-local mall is not the most obvious spot–but that's the point. “For people who are familiar with the brand—and considering we are not in the most trafficked zone—we want this to be a destination,” he says. “For us, that’s a way we really love shopping, finding those stores that aren’t marked really clearly or ask you to go to a different neighborhood or you have to dig a little to find it.” Tap the link in our bio for more details.
