Meet the Georgian Marilyn Monroe. Gerilyn is one of the few drag queens in Tbilisi, a rarity in the conservative country which has a violent history against the LGBTQI+ community. The most infamous incident took place on May 17, 2013, when Orthodox Christian Georgian priests led a march against gay-rights activists, who at the time were holding a peaceful protest. The situation escalated into a rabid mob attacking a small van carrying a few protestors. Even over five years later, that bubbling animosity is still present.
