Not just any crocodile, but the largest and most fearsome species, the saltwater crocodile. The “salty’s” eye is perfectly situated on top of the head to give them an amazingly broad field of view. When submerged, the crocodile has a clear protective membrane that masks the eye to help it see underwater. During the day, crocodiles’ pupils close into a narrow slit, reducing the amount of light let into the eye, but at night (when this photo was taken) or when in murky water, crocodiles will completely open up their pupils to give themselves near superhero like night vision.
