My friend @スティーヴン・ユァン is a great actor and in an awesome new film called Burning. I’ve followed his career since the Walking Dead and got to talk to him for new @davechangshow episode. There are not many Asian Americans (let alone ?? Americans) on film and Steve has become a central figure in Asian American culture. We talked about the responsibility of being a role model and the difficulties of representing a culture for others.
Steve and I have gone through similar things and we spoke about the struggles of coming from an immigrant background and having a reconciliation with your family and history. “Han” is the term of the feeling of inherited oppression in Korean. You can’t fight it...you have to accept it. I’ve learned that sometimes losing is winning and I’m really grateful that Steve and I got to talk about it. Listen to the podcast at the link in my bio.
