This weekend was a little intense. In addition to the horrific events in the news and it being the weekend before Halloween, we were also moving out of our friend’s place in TriBeCa and back into my sister’s studio, which is really owned by her in-laws. Because the renovation has been taking longer than anyone expected, they have been helping us figure out a way to stay there while also not getting in anyone’s way. This meant we had to give up some of the furnishings and get a new bed. It’s a little chaotic in there right now and we’re living out of suitcases so it’s definitely affecting everyone (I’ve lost my shit numerous times trying to find stupid things like a hair brush and clean socks), but it’s especially taking a toll on the kids. They miss home and having a consistent routine. This weekend, we dropped them off for a night at Grammy and Sammy’s house while Mike and I went to a friend’s party in Connecticut and spent the night. The next morning, we had to drive straight to New Jersey for my stepbrother’s finance’s bridal shower. On the way to the car the next morning, running through the rain with a hangover in Greenwich, already a few minutes late, I looked around and realized how pretty everything was around me. Oh yeah— the leaves are all turning right now! Being in the city and totally preoccupied, I almost forgot. “Come on!” Mike shouted as I stopped to take a photo of my feet on the wet grass. “What are you doing????” Taking a pic for the gram. Gotta get that very important fall foliage shot on the fly, so it looks like I have everything under control. Doesn’t he know me by now?
