This is what today’s episode of the podcast is about. I talk about my need to control and the contrasting urge to let it all go. The challenge of motherhood because I never know what the day will bring. The urge to be super CEO and the longing to go live in a cave somewhere at the same time. The clinging and the softening. And my place, right in between.
The side of us that needs to control everything is there for a reason - somewhere, at some point, we needed that side of ourselves to take the lead so we could survive. It’s valid, my controlling side. It keeps me safe. It gets things done. It also trips me up, again and again. The most profound moments of magic in my life all came during times of not-knowing. When I was forced to surrender. On my knees, at a loss, asking for help. Miracles happen there, in the giving up and the giving in.
I’m learning so much. It’s like growing pains. Glorious and painful. I hope you’re having growing pains, too.
