? donating 1% of all sales of my Pamela x NA-KD collection placed on Sunday to the non-profit organisation @theoceancleanup ? ok, that’s a big topic. We all know that the plastic waste in the ocean is a huge problem & that we are the one’s to blame for that. Our consumption & senseless use of plastic in every possible situation is the reason why our beautiful oceans and animals are suffering and ultimately the micro plastic from the oceans ends up in our food harming our health as well ? I always encouraged you to use less plastic or at least be more aware of when you need it or when it’s actually fine to skip that plastic bag or bottle. For example when buying veggies - they don’t need to be packed individually in plastic. Or buying plastic water bottles on the go - take your own reusable bottle and fill it up at home! Saves the planet and looks prettier haha. So it was only natural to me to ask NA-KD to not pack my Limited Edition pieces in plastic bags. To me, this is an easy one .. just skip the plastic during production and send my clothing in a carton! ? #duuuuuh ??‍♀️ but in reality, those processes behind producing, packing, shipping, etc. are more complex than we expect. Especially in such a fast industry like fashion. My (simple) wish got this whole non-plastic thing rolling and I managed to make this a priority for not only my collection, but for the future of @nakdfashion itself (kind of proud of this haha). Unfortunately time frames were too short to have this 100% ready for this launch - but I’ve got more coming (woops am I allowed to say that) and those Editions will be 100% plastic free ? for this drop, we managed to pack parts of the collection in biodegradable bags. Plus all shipping bags are from now on made from recycled materials. And to make up for the sad part (not having everything in non-plastic bags) we decided to donate 1% of the total sales placed on Sunday to an oganisation of my choice.
