Antarctica, December 18th, 2012. I shot this on the final day while on approach to basecamp. We were closing out a 50 day climbing expedition for @ナショナルジオグラフィック lead stoutly by @mikelibecki and sturdy team @Cory Richards and @freddiewilkinson. These lenticular clouds were a blatant sign of high winds and an impeding storm we most certainly wanted to avoid and thankfully did. We had dealt with our fair share up to this point, base camp had been ravaged and broken many times over and tolerance for this cold savagery was something I wanted in my rear view. Home was calling, the expedition was successful and I was ready to see my loved ones and enjoy the warmth of the holidays. The scene however was undeniably beautiful and pure, the raw power of nature bending everything to its will.
