My wheels have been spinning a lot lately about impermanence. Momo is healthy and I’m healthy too, but this undeniable ever-approaching mortality, though relatively distant, is overpowering.⁣⁣
This Instagram game isn’t permanent. My organs will fail and relationships will come and go. I’ll have an end. I spent a year of my life working on a book that will come and go like any other. It’ll cause a few smiles and disappear. I’m not too sad about it, but I am a little afraid. It becomes an anxiety that takes me out of the moment. It takes me away from my ability to be present with the very things I’m fearful of losing.⁣⁣
The practiced thought: we’ll all have an impact and make tiny waves. Like anything we do, tiny waves. And that’s enough. We make little waves, and isn’t it beautiful to watch the waves?⁣⁣⁣
