2,600 children were separated from their families at the border. 497 still sit in detention centers waiting to be reunited. For 14.4 million Americans, health insurance premiums have risen, and $1.2 billion dollars of guaranteed overtime pay has been revoked. The ban on Chlorpyrifos pesticide, which causes birth defects, is no longer in place, putting millions of female farmworkers and their unborn children at risk. A rule that had required companies to inspect mines for safety hazards before workers began their shift has been revoked, and a rule proposed that allows companies with less than 250 workers to cease reporting workplace injuries and illness statistics against OSHA regulations while restoring the right of serial labor-law violators to compete for government contracts.

If you know someone who says their “vote doesn’t matter / politics doesn’t effect them / the game is rigged” - let them know they’re the beneficiary of the rigged system. Recognize their privileged complacency put others at risk. If you don’t vote, your inaction is an action unto itself - not voting is making a choice to support the interests of those who seek to keep you away from the polls. An interest to disenfranchise those who fall victim to a system you decide not to try and change.
