@mariannewilliamson your words are powerful and important. I couldn’t agree more with this. ・・・ When the Israelites got to the other side of the sea through the parting of the waters, and the Egyptians soldiers who followed them drowned when the seas came back together, the newly freed Jews began to dance and sing. God commanded them to stop, saying that we were never to celebrate the destruction of any man, even if that destruction was necessary. That is what I thought about today, looking at the mug shot of Bill Cosby. It's why I wasn't comfortable when everyone was whooping and shouting with joy when we killed Bin Laden. Justice needs to be wielded, but it should be wielded with deep sobriety and a sense of somber responsibility not only to the law but to a higher law as well. Justice? Yes. A sense of revenge? No. Otherwise we will recreate the conditions by which injustice occurred to begin with. The only reason to clean up the past is to create the space for new beginnings, and the only way there's space for new beginnings is if our hearts are purified. We need to hold sexual predators accountable, and for that reason I'm glad Bill Cosby received a prison sentence. But can I laugh as I look at that picture? No. The tragedy is too great, whenever any life is destroyed -- whether by a predator or by oneself. In its final analysis, it’s not just about who they are. ITS ABOUT WHO WE ARE TOO.
