My friend’s fig tree is bursting, and she asked me what I love to make with figs. This Fig chutney is soooo good and the flavors pop! I serve it on a cheese plate, or I roast a turkey breast and make delicious sandwiches. Perfect to make this weekend! And maybe I just will! What’s everyone cooking this weekend? Here’s my Balsamic fig chutney⠀
Makes 1 Generous Pint⠀


1 tablespoon whole coriander seeds⠀
2 cinnamon sticks⠀
4 cups quartered fresh figs (about 1 ½ pounds)⠀
¾ cup dry white wine⠀
2/3 cup minced shallot⠀
½ cup balsamic vinegar⠀
½ cup firmly packed dark brown sugar⠀
2 teaspoons finely grated peeled fresh ginger⠀

Stir the coriander and cinnamon sticks in a heavy two-quart saucepan over medium-high heat until the spices are toasted and fragrant, about 1 minute. Immediately add the remaining ingredients. Reduce heat to medium-low and cook, covered, stirring occasionally, until the chutney is thickened to a jamlike consistency, about 30 minutes.⠀
Transfer the chutney to jars, cool completely. Cover and refrigerate or freeze up to 6 months.⠀
