"Killer Eyes....coastal brown bears are beautiful animals, the time spent watching these magnificent bears, some of my most valued. Their massive size alone commands attention, the ferocity in the eyes contains no ambiguity and reminds us to treat this animal with respect. His expression is one of beauty and intent and in the hierarchy of Brooks Falls in Katmai, Alaska -- his dominance this day goes unchallenged. These majestic bears rely on the salmon that return to these waters every year to survive the long Alaskan winters and the salmon numbers are decreasing with each passing summer. The confusion these animals must feel as each passing year finds it harder and harder to survive breaks my heart.
