I’ve written these words a thousand times. A caption that keeps me up at night. One that I write, delete, take a deep breath... and start again. -
Growing up I was told I could be whatever I wanted. But deep down there was one thing I thought I’d never be free to be.

I lived in fear of losing friends and family. The very thought of it was so crippling and painful, I prayed that one day some kind of switch would flip. -
And then it did. Just not in the way I imagined. I fell in love, and he loved me back. -
I’ve spent the past few years sharing my heart and story in person with as many close friends and family as possible. I found more and more freedom from fear with every conversation. But even now, I still get anxiety before each one.

As many of you know, my faith has always been a guiding light in my life and continues to be the most important thing to me. There are 365 ‘Do not be afraid’ verses in the Bible. I don’t think this is a coincidence, but a daily reminder to look to God for courage and lean into His love.

Today I’m grateful for the love of my family, friends, partner, and Savior, and choose to not live another day in fear as a gay man. Such love has no fear. #loveislove
