This image was shot on a freezing mid-winter day on Lake Kawaguchiko in Japan. I had previously been back and forth to this location over the past two days and failed to get clear enough weather in order to see the full scape of the volcano. However, after much persistence and freezing early morning walks through the snow and around the lake, the clouds finally began to clear and I was able to get some beautiful mid-morning light and get the shot! The long reeds that scatter the shoreline provided a perfect foreground for creating depth and also created a greater sense of contrast between the icy winter sky and the saturated orange colours of the reeds.

The best tip I can provide is to experiment! For me, this came through changing the perspective and shifting it into a more subjective viewpoint, seemingly like peeking out into the beyond. Small things like these will 100% boost your photography game! - @alexlongphotography
